I don't think uniden has made a board for quite some time now. Cobra has used some other Chinese company of which I don't know which is probably who has made many of the unidens as well. Until now it appears qixiang is making for a bunch of names. Ranger though, that's another matter as you've already mentioned.
MSRP in the US will be in the ballpark of $270.00 - $300.00, with dealer cost approaching the $200.00 ballpark. One popular US distributor called me a couple days ago asking my opinion as to whether they should start carrying it, and I had to say no. Not sure this one will catch on very well at first. As was already mentioned, the price approaches Stryker/Anytone territory. Someone would have to have need of all four operating modes plus a bunch of bells/whistles in a legal CB for this radio to be a logical option, and there just aren't many who have that specific niche need. All just my opinion, of course.

That's a lot of money for a radio without a VFO. Maybe there will be a way to put it in export mode? Probably not. They should sell us the European version as a 10 meter radio....
I'm old school, so something like this really doesn't light my fire at all. As I see it, the only manufacturer who has got their (cb/export) product line together is ANYTONE. Quad5, Quad6, and Ares2 are the top performers ON-THE-AIR. Pretty don't count when you're trying to Dx in heavy traffic. I seldom hear any President rigs on DX, and only a few Strykers. When ANYTONE brings out a Quad6 Base Radio, I will be the first in line. I think that the President George FCC will be a total flop. Why would anyone buy a cb with FCC mandated limitations, when they can get the European version with more power, wider frequency coverage, and other extras built in ??

I too find the older radios to be quieter, more receptive, better sounding on TX and RX, and definitely easier to just turn on and talk with no complicated menus and such to play with.
I just put my old Midland 79-892 on the air after a lot of years. It looks newish and has been recapped. Nice radios.
But as far as the George FCC, the pricing seems to be on par. I look at fleabay and prices on vintage SSB radios are pretty out of sight most of the time for a questionable radio in most cases and need repair or at least serviced. "Turns on" in the description is a 50-50 at best proposition.

And that's stock, I thought that was odd too. Ssb numbers were pretty high as well which didn't seem accurate for an fcc cb radio. He also said that was at about 90% modulation which makes it even more odd.
Those are numbers you get from a peaked single final ranger or galaxy but even stock those aren't doing that.
Not a bad little radio and the audio was super clear as well on his monitor radio. Curious to know what those peak numbers really are, would pair great with the dx-350hdv.
But the price...... gotta pay to play in this game!

I just got one on preorder from the Radio Garage. I am hoping that it is short enough to fit in my ammo can portable, it will be replacing my McKinley. Reading the comments in the video, people are saying that the second final can easily be added.
