just bored and thought id throw this out for a topic .

Old School

vers

New school

The Lincoln is a 10 (11) meter radio built on the HR 2510 chassis, this radio was designed 20+ years ago, and except for a very few minor changes, it is basically the same. The Final has gone from a MRF 477, to a MRF 497, and now A MRF 455.
Of course this says something about the radio, that it has survived production this long, is still well liked and sells well, even when they are hard to come by.
The RCI 2950 DX is a 10 (11) 12 meter radio that uses a SMT board, and newer technology than the old Lincoln.
Myself, I like old school, I have a HR2510, a HR 2600, and a LINCOLN.......and only one RCI 2950DX. 8)
Both are good radios, but I think the RX is better on the Uniden chassis.
And even it has room for improvment.
The TX on the RCI has more punch in AM mode than the stock Lincoln, but this can also be improved.
I also like the smaller footprint of the Lincoln, and the front mount mic jack.
Down side, no vari on Mic gain, two stage gain, only a attenuator for the mic level, and if you are using it on 11 meters( cough cough ) the channel buttons zero the frequency unless you are in G band, and that is only the 40 channels.
the ChipSwitch takes care of all of this, If it bothers the operator a lot
Just my thoughts...

i have both as well. the 2950 & 2950DX and find that the Lincoln is better on transmit swings harder with great audio and really has a far better receiver. much more quieter does not have the light white noise the 2950's have and find it less sensitive to noise from electricals like fuel pumps. the receiver also really brings in the far out signals. only draw back to the Lincoln for me is it is hard to operate at night in the vehicle with the knobs being small close togeather and not luminated. the 2950's are laid out really well and luminated for ease of operation at night. also i think the Lincoln sounds better on SSB. but really you won't go wrong with either both world class radios.

I ditto that radioreddz, the Lincon has more punch but to get through the freqs. is a hassel.

the 2950DX you could just go right through all freqs from 24mhz-32mhz, more visible controls, the DX version I found had a faster scanning ability than the older version. but noisy.

If I had a chance of getting a Lincon, Ill send it straight to Rogerbird for a peak-o-trick. He did one of my cousins radio it had bad transistors and couldnt TX. It came back a TX monster machine.

For ease of op. = 2950DX

TX monster/WNoise whisper = Lincon

But it just my 2¢....Aloha 1-5.
