They would have been sold back when President base radios were being sold. President Washington, Madison, etc. so D104's with the President logo on them. The weird one in that batch is the mike with the 20 dollar double eagle coin on it. If that was a real double eagle coin it'd be a $1000 microphone :)

If she is looking to sell the black/gold microphone let me know. Been looking for a night K eagle.

She took it to a jeweler and was told it's fake. NM it sure if I trust that jeweler. I'd get another opinion.

I remember seeing several "President" line retailers that offered new backs for the heads of various radios - when you purchased the radio and Microphone as a set.

That is impressive. Including the Liberty Coin replica.

The Real President D-104 has PRESIDENT & an Eagle no coin of any kind.It is just a Foil Sticker not a coin.I have seen people stick a Silver dollar to the heads of different versions of the D-104 heads but none came from the factory like that. The President D-104 is pretty RARE even with the foil sticker.I would be VERY interested in that microphone for my collection at the right price.I currently have 41 D-104's in my personal collection & would love it to be number 42.

To me it does not matter if the Back of the head was "Faked" - it made a statement about the user - about their feelings in using it.

I just admire the collection - the Golden Eagle on the Far Left in the photo looks like it was well "handled" by the former owner - so to me - this is looking into a part of the world of Radio that used these Astatic mikes. That company made the Lazy bar or "Chicken Choker" or both - what not, the owners of these desktop mic's took pride in their equipment.

And for someone to collect these, in their original condition, usually tells me that they admired the memory of the person behind that mike, more than the Mic itself. For the Mic is just that, a Microphone wired to a radio. Not just a thing, but to whom the Radio Keyed For - whom spoke using it? Is it that they are now Silent - or Lost? We'll never truly know - it's left to the purchaser that collected these (which I presume has gone silent key). So to me these mikes may have been purchased by a person that loved that era - or for someone they admired because they had a voice that if it were to be heard, they felt that it should be done using the best equipment for that time.

It's a part of America that was a big thing, Only now gone - lost to the ages, the 70's ~ 90's - until the opposite side of the world took to the task of resurrection of the CB enigma - only now it's under the 'guise of "11-Meter / 10-Meter Export Mobiles" - another generation arises from using it. So I lived during the Astatic-era - we will see where the new generation takes this.

Thanks for sharing this!

That picture was taken at the woman's home. These all belonged to her father who recently passed. He was an acid CBer and has losds of CB equipment, which she has yet to pick up. Radios, amps, antennas, etc. She lives 1 hr from my home. I have no desire to purchased any of it, (not for sale at this time), but stand in awe of all the nice equipment he had. There are some nice specimens there for sure.
