The Body Bag Pride DX300 is for sale. The guy who had first refusal didn't come up with the funds. So now it's up for grabs.
It's fully functional except for the receiver preamp and the SSB switch. If you want to use it for sideband, there's a RCA jack on the back to "hard key" the amplifier. A footswitch works, or a radio that has a jack on the rear for a patch cable to key an amplifier, like a ham radio. Or a radio that has our relay mod built into it.
It's built for a wimpy radio like a Cobra 2000GTL that won't peak beyond 18 Watts or so. Not meant for a radio with two final transistors. Just too big.
There are cosmetic compromises on the face.
And the right top corner.
The cover has been powder coated with a textured black finish. The "band" knob is now the bias adjustment. This will adjust the carrier level to accommodate a radio that doesn't have a knob for that. The carrier should be held under 150 Watts after it's peaked for max modulated power.
The toggle switches are not original. Especially the two on the right. The three-position High/Stby/Low switch is no longer available. The High/Low switch now does that alone. The "SSB" switch is now the standby. Haven't gotten around to labels yet.
Here's a prior post showing the reconstruction process. https://www.worldwidedx.com/threads/pride-dx300-basket-case-no-maybe-more-like-body-bag-case.264657/
It's a local-pickup only item in Louisville, Ky. Too much risk shipping it. At least for now.
But I have a peculiar protocol for selling an amplifier. The buyer needs to bring two things with him. The radio he'll use with it, and his wattmeter.
If he's gonna overdrive it with a radio that's too big, he'll show me how much too big. Makes it easier to predict how long it will take to blow up the tube.
And we'll see how his wattmeter compares to mine before he takes possession. Won't be any "doesn't put out enough" nonsense on my watch.
And if it doesn't put out enough to suit the prospective buyer, he keeps his money in his pocket. No hard feelings.
And no after-sale drama about drive level or wattmeter readings.
Nine hundred bucks plus KY sales tax for a total of $954. No, I don't have to collect sales tax. Only have to pay it. Much rather the buyer pay it than for me to do it.
The flag has run up the flagpole. Now we see who aims a shotgun at it.
