PRO-2096

radar

When all else fails, RTFM
I have a Radio Shack PRO-2096.
On the front panel the Display Assembly has the following symbols:

#.#.#.....#.......#.....#.#.#.#.....#.......#......#
......#.....#.#......#............#.......#.#....#
.......#.......#......#.#...........#........#....#.#

NOTES:
I used the pound (#) to represent small white blocks.
I used (.) dots, to maintain the spacing of the (#).
The message system apparently doesn't like multiple spaces.

I have seen others of this model without the above.
It almost looks like some form of coding or bar-code.
Does anyone know what those symbols represent?

On another subject, does any company manufacture a scanner combining most of the following? Who comes the closest and at what cost?

1. 1000 channels or more.
2. Programmable banking.
3. Triple trunking.
4. APCO Project 25 Digital.
5. Signal-Stalking or Close-Call.
6. No Gaps in coverage.
7. AM/FM/LSB/USB
8. Narrow & Wide modes for AM & FM.
9. 455KHz or 10.7MHz IF Output.

My setup here at the house is:
(2) Icom R7000 - with accessories.
(2) Icom R-71a - with accessories.
(2) Radio Shack PRO-2052.
(2) Radio Shack PRO-2006 - One stock and one with .455KHz IF Output.
(1) Radio Shack PRO-2006 - Modified by Bill Cheek w/25k Memory & PC/CAT.
(1) Radio Shack PRO-2051.
(1) Radio Shack PRO-2096.
(1) Radio Shack PRO-528.
(1) Panasonic RF-4900.

If anyone out there has any "secrets" government frequencies for the Puget Sound Region of Washington State, I'd like to hear from you.

I would have to guess that the text you're seeing is some type of model or serial designation.

As far as other scanners that meet you're requirements, take a look at the Uniden Digitals. Since digital is a requirement, you're going to have to start with those models first and then try to fill in the other stuff.

That's the thing you'll run into. The radios with APCO and trunking usually don't have some of the features like SSB, continuous coverage, IF outputs, RS-232 control and such. Most of the rigs that have that stuff like the AOR and Yupiteru sets don't have APCO 25 or trunking.

Sorry, but digital is not always a requirement if it's not used in your area. I found that while all state police & state road crews use digital in my area all of the counties and emergency services in my area still use the old analog frequencies. Saved me a bunch by allowing me to buy an e-bay analog scanner that works fine in my area.
