I just bought a mint condition Turner+2. I've always used d105's on my radios. There's a switch on the bottom of the mic. The mic is amplified. What is this switch for?

Relay or electronic switching. If the radio is newer you want electronic switching. Some of the old radios had a relay that engaged when you pressed the PTT button and this would require the switch be set to relay switching mode. The old relay switched radios were easy to identify as they would have an audible "click" or a duller "clunk" when you keyed the microphone. Try it in either position and use whichever position works for you however it should be labeled.

THANS CAptaint. TURNER+2

It will be used on one or all of my sonars. As you probably know the sonar go clunk! I love the sound an always have. It as distinct as a Browning ping. The clunk although clunks as soon as I key up the sound manages to make to get transmitted. I ll have to wire it up first. I'm sure the sound of the radio will change. For better or worse is yet to be decided. Thanks again..

I have a Plus Two that I have yet to hook up. It's just in ok shape, nothing to brag about as far as looks. I really like the Turners, and that is after being a D104 fan for years. I cannot remember the fella that did some custom paint work on his Plus Two, but it was the coolest thing, designed after a prop driven air race plane. If you look at the microphone head of the Plus Two, it kind of resembles the old race planes. I bet you'll really like yours on your Sonar... should be a nice classic match.

That's a mic from my past that I ran on a Lafayette Comstat 25B when I was in high school. I still have a nice one sitting my mic display shelf alongside a Turner Super Sidekick and +3 desk mic. They still sound great on a CB radio.
