QSL cards from the Pacific.

It sure makes it nice now days to be able to search a place that one has made a contact with. I have learned alot about other people from around the world.....history, economy, everyday life, etc.

Below are just a couple of those contacts from the Pacific, if interested I have enclosed a link to the country or island.

Ross Ice shelf
This contact was one that I will probably never make again.
The operator was working for some geologist on the ice shelf. He was using 2950DX being run by a generator outside the tent. The antenna was a longwire 15' high with grounds going into the ice. We made contact 3 days in a row.....haaa, what good conditions we had back then.

The Antarctica contact was with a 2970dx, the rest were made with a 2950dx
Antenna Maco 5
I use no amps here on the base, just the radio.

This one was made using a Cobra 148GTL.

This one with a 2950dx

Just to show how it's really a "small world", I found out thru our e-mail, that the operator pictured on the above card, was born and raised just 25 miles from me. He went to various colleges here, then onto China. He is now a school teacher there.

Impressive, I never have talked to those countries on any band. The sun spots will be back in a few years hope condx are great then<suppose to be>
