Just wondering, I notice whilst reading a few posts over the weeks on here that some members refer to the repairs that they do etc. But was wondering how comes they dont use their business name as their screen name on here? I am aware some are retired or ex technicians, but some are not.The only actual business screen name I came across was DTB radios on here from posts a while back, is this due to sponsership and such, just curious.

Back in the bad old days, most radio forums belonged to a for-profit business of one sort or another. Some of them would discourage participation by a potential competitor. A certain "shiny metal" forum comes to mind.

Used the name "2600" for several of those, just so they couldn't claim I was getting "free" publicity from my username on "their" forum.

Since I still don't solicit mailed-in repair work, it's no big deal.
