In pictures this radio looks very nice. Question is how does it really look? Is there anything about this radio that is cheesy, like the knobs, the meter, the mic, the buttons, or the finish?

How did it work for you, and did you get an extra tune, alignment, or mod?

I've had my DX2547 for almost 2 years, and I like the rig very much. In my opinion, there's nothing "cheesy" about it. The only thing I didn't really care for is the mic; it's a typical Galaxy stock hand mic that's adequate, but nothing special. I use a D-104 on it, and get great audio reports on both AM and SSB.

The radio is well made, works great (excellent receiver), sounds great, looks as good as it does in the pictures (maybe better), and is reliable. Mine is 100% stock-out-of-the-box, too. I've considered mods, but it works so well that I've decided to leave it alone. Hope that helps.

if you've had other base stations, you might be a bit surprised at how small it is.

otherwise, a decent rig.

and the stock mic is well matched to the radio's audio circuits. many have said that the stock mic sounds very good.

MARCONI, You should of asked me i have one and I LOVE IT. Well i never had anything else but its really cool. yea it is pretty small. Its basically a DX959 with a power supply in it which i learned to day is a very nice transformer type called a Hypersil transformer. which i hear are good due to low noise and interference. i love my radio its great when skips good it and the antron talk all over the country. It is also a good radio for some mods. Extra Channels and other stuff you can do to it. I bought it with a tune up and it swings 22-27 watts ssb on a whistle. AM it deadkeys 12 watts. anymore info you want let me know.

My 2547 talks an receives great, I have a D-104 on it an have a Maco 5/8 wave antenna an couldn't be happier. The only downfall with the radio I can find is the cheap-azz little legs they have to prop the front up with. One of mine broke about 2 weeks after I got it.

I heard this radio drifts and has low quality component's but I really want one as a stock base, is there any new bases coming out soon?

Had a 2547 before with the old power supply worked great, just ordered a new one with the switching power supply, I talk to a friend about 30 miles away that talks on a 2000 GTL barefoot so am going to take on more stab at trying to pull them in just a little stronger with this radio!...........Oldtimer

I checked the alignment sheet on the 2547 at cbtricks.com I think a 12 watt carrier is alittle much for that radio. You might want to check into that or the power supply and other things might crap out on you. I bet that radio runs quite hot with a carrier to peak swing ratio like that.

As with ANY Galaxy connex type radio yes they do drift so to speak as they warm up, A little twist of the knob as you go no big deal......

I have 3 Galaxy radios and LOVE em.. Still think the Pluto was the best of the bunch ! but then it is not a base unit like the 2547:mellow:
