I've been noticing that R&L has become more competitive lately. Last few purchases have had the cheapest price. I live in Ohio, so I mostly avoided him due to sales taxes.
Now that Ohio collects out of States taxes, I can afford them. I suppose the law is working as intended. I visited R&L back in early 90's. It's a cool old building and it was jam packed with all sorts of stuff. They are always very friendly on the phone.
I'm looking at a imminent major purchase and they have the best price without any gimmicks.
