Ordered a couple different FDC radios recently to play with and also picked up a programming cable + programming software cd from radiogearpro.com.

The cable is excellent quality and is of the two prong variety that plugs into the h/t mic+speaker jacks.  I find it interesting though that the jack spacing varies among the various FDC models - something to watch out for.

The software cd included was just one that they had burned themselves, nice collection of software on it for most of the chinese h/t's though.  One thing to watch out for, when you first plug the usb cable into your computer, windows will recognize it as a Motorola Modem and it just won't work.  I don't do windows but the corrective procedure involved removing the device driver and then running the pegasus .exe driver installation.  A quick reboot and all was well.

The first radio I programmed was a new FDC FD-278B.  Haven't had time to play with it yet but it's a very basic computer progammable only (no keypad) radio.  It is quite a bit smaller than the FD-150's that I've had great luck with in the past but feels a lot more solid, we shall see.  Interesting feature, it has a rotary channel knob that announces the channel number in either English or Chinese, Chinese amuses me.

That is all.
