Has anyone ever purchased a new ranger 2995dxcf?
From what I understand the E chip is included in the stock mic package.
Looks simple enough to install myself.
Work all the different shops selling this radio and offering alignment ECT.
Its kind of confusing knowing if that's really even necessary.
I like a radio not doing more than 100% AM modulation.
I don't want to splatter adjacent frequencies with harmonics like I'm sure this radio would do if you crank things up.
I have saw reviews online saying the radio works just fine out of the box with the e chip installed.
Just looking for other opinions on this.

Good working radio. I have owned 4 over the years. I'm sure you will be happy with yours. Only thing I did was upgrade the power supply.

Nice radio, I use that one and a dx2517 as main radios. The 95 is modern and fine out of the box. I would suggest purchase Amazon since the return if needed is fast and no questions asked, no tech or warranty stuff. I've has the 95 for about a year, zero issues, good luck.

I always suggest buying a radio from a shop that does good tech work. This way they can convert the radio and then confirm it's on frequency, receive is properly aligned, and the dead key levels are in line with the factory spec. Then they can set the modulation to 100% as well as tune the peak power levels and make sure everything looks good on a scope.

Another option if you have a decent local tech buy the radio un-touched and have your local guy set it up. If you want to do it yourself it's really a crap shoot. Radio's are "ballparked" in on an assemble line, was this radio built on a Friday afternoon or Monday morning lol who knows. Some people convert their own radio's and it goes well. If your just going to price shop Copper electronics will probably have the lowest price. I would not let them tune the radio though. I wouldn't let them touch my toaster much less a modern surface mount radio.

Yes, to answer your question. I did purchase brand new the 2995 DXCF .......
Yes, the E chip was included in the box with the radio. No issues .....
This was about 3 years ago .......
