i the few that ive had ive swaped in a better voltage regulator from parts express, that stops the display from dimming as the factory ones are far to weak and slow. ill be damned if i can rember what i ordered though.

i think it was NTE4093B x2 from parts express. add pair of 2SB688 really makes these radios bark. it adds gain to your modulation before the amc circuit so your always 100%. some low noise zenier diodes NTE583 and some mics transistors NTE107, NTE153 and it will be a screamer that eliminates nearly all the front end hash.
