hi guys got a 2950 an when i talk skip people say im off freq whats the best way to fix this problem an i live to far from a radio shup to send to thanks in advance

to properly align the radio you,d need proper equiment
a temporary fix would be move the 6th digit 0 to a 1 or 9
depenpending which way your off so if your on
273850=38 and you 2hz high then go down 2
273848
or if your 2 khz low then goto
273852
basically just use the last digit to tune your transmit

Being off frequency is not such a big problem with a radio like the 2950! You can program a frequency split. Tune the person you're talking to in with the clarifier. Then hit the program key, then the split key and set it 1, hit enter and then hit the Split key again. It will show + or -. The + means it will be plus 1 on the 6th digit, - will mean neg one. Play with + or - and changing the 6th digit to 1,2, or 3 etc. That's the easy way to align your transmit and receive with a 2950.

Is the clarifier cut in that radio?? You can use the shift button as described in the furst reply jost shift the curser over to beneath the last digit which should be a zero and either change it to a higher number or lower number and get a radio check once its on then do yourself a favor and hit the shift back over to beneath the 3rd position over for normal cannel (10K) jumps.

I ask about clarifier because this can bring up a whole different battle if transmit and recieve is not alligned with one another.

If you have someone local who has equipment that is ON frequency and you are fairly sure of this you can easily make adjustments inside the radio to re-align it. While you lack the proper equipment to correctly do an alignment it is possible to do it by ear and it will be "good enough" for most purposes.

Go to cbtricks.com and look up your radio in the information section. Do you have the DX or non-dx version? Look up the alignment instructions and you'll find the adjustment point for LSB (L29 on the old model and L19 on the dx). Then you'll need a non-conductive tuning tool or plastic screwdriver to make the adjustment.

You'll center your clarifier and then have the other station count to 20. As they count you can adjust the tuning location inside the radio until their voice sounds normal.

Fairly simple...not exact but it's possible to do.

Next best thing is to buy a nice 8 digit frequency counter with probes and then you can hook right into the radio and adjust yourself without the other party.

If he can borrow a radio he is sure to be near on frequency he could use it to align the 2950 using the receive feed back from the good radio which is much more accurate.

Take the good radio attached to another antenna, key that radio up and you'll hear a high pitched tweet then using the pots suggested adjust the bad radio until the tweeting stops, if you go to far then just start over until your get it where it needs to be, oh yeah center the clarifier on the 2950 before you start the procedure.

I have aligned 4 of my 2950dx models like cbradiomagazine.com point out - and it's works just fine that way.

I will find someone that is running a good HF radio (either local or on dx) and tune the radio to theirs, works very easy and takes about 5 mins or less. Then just double check with some other stations and you should be good to go.
