RCI 2950DX Image Rejection Modification

That's an interesting read. So those traces and that resistor are causing IF imaging? That's not a bad deal for $25 if it cures a receiver problem. I wonder if it applies to my old amber display 2950? It's not a DX so probably not, but is this necessary on the latest version?

Sorry Jeff, But When I look at what you are saying, This automatically reminds me of an MRI, that reminds me, I need to make another appointment. I can tell you all about MRI's and Cat-Scan's, But I am sorry. I'm not understanding. My fault, Lack of Radio Education.

I always liked the receive on my 2950's and 2970 I have only 1 2950DX that I got from DXhound a member on this forum. He had done the schottky diode change so my recieve on my 2950dx is good aswell but maybe it could be better with a few other things done this is a very interesting read to say the least.

From reading, yes...the resistor is not there, just the traces.

but is this necessary on the latest version?

That is what I wanted to know as well, this is the only shop I know of that has reported it, and I had wondered before.

As told in the first report, RCI was not able to recreate the same problem when told about it, there for they did not address it.
I have looked at the Main Board Schematic for the 2950DX model and it appears that the traces are still there.
I do not have a Schemo for the new models with the black display, but I can not see Ranger building a new board for that radio....and I do not have my hands on one to pull the filter and look.
That is why I started the thread.
I was hoping that some one that has hands on working with the latest model might be able to shed some light on the subject, or if anyone else has done any kind of before/after testing.

It would be cool if there was someone on this forum who could buy one, test it for image rejection, have the mod done and retest it, publish the results and then offer the rig for sale.

Now that would certainly be a full-service forum!

If I hadn't just spent my grip on a new rig I'd do it and keep it for my mobile.
