i have an rci 2970 works well but have a problem now ahd then looking for any one with information that can help me.

now and then solid static os about 2 to 4 bars comes across with a slight whistle than it will go dead silent, when it is dead silent it does not transmit or receive, all on its own it will come back to normal and work great, it has happened a time or two while transmitting and who i was talkin to siad it sounded like i went off freak really bad, any information or tips is greatly appreciated thanks, i know now that it is not a ground problem and not an swr problem, ive got word from another person that it might be a regulator on the left side, i will be checking that soon as i can, any other input on what might cause this problem is greatly appreciated thanks.

thanks there dtb radio it seems so far that it was a bad solder point there on the one 8 volt regulator, it seems to be workin good for now time will tell

Honda316, DTB is probably right about the 8-volt regulator and if it's only a bad solder-joint than your lucky. The reason being is that those 8-volt regulators are notorious for heating up and going bad, so keep an eye on it. 73 Jim
