I have finally decided to buy a rci 2980wx from copper electronics for my base station. A friend of mine is going to give me a turner +3 mic. Will this be a good setup. If not do you you have any suggestions.

Nice radios. They need to be properly aligned after conversion to 11 meters. I might buy it from Copper, but I personally would not have them do the tuneup---I'd rather have DTB Radio, or SS8541 Electronics do that. Set up by one of those shops, that radio will do you proud.

That Turner is your best bet with that particular radio d104 is way to tinny and out of all my mics I tried on my Galaxy DX2527 the turner sounded the best.

Great radio. Regret giving mine up!!! Great ears & clean audio. Not sure about the Copper purchase though. Only going from what I've read. Where are you located? Our local tech here is an authorized RCI dealer.

Just for kicks, do a price check on a regular SSB mobile CB radio with a power supply. Is that a cheaper alternative? (I really am asking because I haven't checked prices lately). The Turner +3 mic is one of my favorites, btw.
