any one know any thing about a maco super star comet least i think it is a maco well i got it for free and i belive the flat side has a 1.5 swr and the vert side is thourght the roof i have no idea about base ant so please be nice if any one can help please do . thank you

dont know anything about those anytennas. but sounds like the matching sytem is set up wrong or just screwed up. if you cant get it dialed in.

The Verticle side and flat (horz) side each have a gamma
match system that needs adjusted for best SWRS.
Follow the directions in your owners manual.
First set the Vert for best SWR. Then set the
Horz gamma match for best SWR.

ok i got it for free from a old guy who just wanted it off his house so it did not come with a book and on the gamma match is it like a mobile ant higer on 40 shorten it and lower on 1 the extend it or how do ya do it and wich is better for local horz or vertical or dx i don't have a rotor or a switch yet like i saied it was free also he gave me a antron a 99 with the two rings wich of these is beeter in your opion any body thank you i am very new to base ant

Vertical is better for local talking.
Horz is usually better for DX.
The Antron 99 is a Omnidirectional antenna.
It will get out equal in all directions.
Decent for local talking and DX.
The beam will provide better performance when
pointed in the direction of who you are talking too.
On the beam: people off to the back or sides will
not come in as good.
