Receiver sensitivity/ adjacent channel rejection

I need a new radio.

I've been talking on these Supertar 3900s for quite some time....while I do like how they sound on the other end, the receivers suck....and they are probably spattering all over the band on TX as well. What radios out there have the best sensitivity? Don't need anything high power....just 4 watt carrier.

While on the subject though....do receiver sensitivity and poor adjacent channel rejection go hand in hand? Or can a good radio have both? I've got some loud mouth overmodulated slobs around here who can't budge my needle but can be heard throughout the band. They're ruining my DX.

If anyone has any suggestions....I need AM & SSB. Must sound good with a stock mic. I do not like power mics.

There are two for sale in the Forum Swap Meet , UNIDEN GRANT XL ..........great receive with good rejection .just a slight tune on those is all you need. Stock mic will hold it's own. simple as that. :D and IM with you on the power mic's ......Can't stand them !!!

No amount of adjacent channel rejection will block splatter from a dirty signal. By definition, they are transmitting on your channel and many others. Good rejection will however, prevent strong signals that are clean from being picked up by your receiver, more or less.

The Uniden Grant XL with Justin's MOSFET front end mod! You will be a happy camper and it doesn't get any better than this for a CB.

If you want AM only with some of the bells and whistles, get the Stryker..........with Justin's MOSFET front end mod.

I own both, as well as a Cobra 2000...........with Bill Good's original MOSFET front end mod.

I'm kinda nervous about buying used. I would like AM/ SSB, but I may just get a Stryker for now.

How about the RCI 2950....is it worth a darn?

I haven't personally owned one of the 2950DX models, but the older versions gave me great service. I used one as a base for years.

As for sensitivity/rejection, you will generally find that higher sensitivity will also show more "bleedover", for the reason that Hamin'X already mentioned.

My choice for a good all-mode 10-11 meter radio would be the Cobra 200GTL. It has very good filtering on its output amp, and great sensitivity. For close-in signals, you will need to lower the RF gain, which will also reduce the "bleedover".
