Does anyone have some recommendations on powered stereo speakers that are of decent quality that will sound and work good on HF rigs? I would like something with good fidelity and without muddy bass, like so many of the typical PC speakers. If you have something that is working good for you, please let me know.

have you considered headphones ? i got a set of sennheiser 555's a little over a year ago to use for music and surround sound and ive been pretty impressed . they of course are the best sounding headphone ive owned but more importantly they are very comfortable to wear . no sweating or hot ears even when falling asleep with them on for 3-4 hours . on the cb they do help me pick out folks sometimes that i dont hear through other speakers . id love to try a pair of Audio-Technica ATH-AD700's though .

just a option i thought id mention .

Why use amplified spkrs.? The radio should be able to drive an external spkr at least as good as a pair of PC spkrs. In any event I am using a pair of JBL Pro spkrs on my PC and they sound pretty good for PC spkrs. Haven't tried them on the radio.

I may not turn on the power/amplifier all the time, but I'd like to have it available if I need/want it. I have a reason which will be revealed later... :) :)

That -and an equalizer- will get the job done!

Got the equalizer part covered already.

A 1/3 octave graphic equalizer will be able to adjust each frequency w/o affecting the adjacent frequency on either side of the one you adjust - by very much. That is - so long as you don't move any one slider too far in any one direction! This is what most sound engineers would use to dial in the sound to accommodate any room - provided the room isn't too far out of whack to begin with. Price is right; the gear is correct to do the job with efficiency vs cost. So long as the amp and speaker are of reasonable quality - you should be able to dial in your receive spot-on.

why not just use a hifi amp and seperate speakers,i run a jvc super A amp, have a jvc sea 12 7 band graphic equaliser on it too,but prefer the pure direct sound and mission m34 floorstanders with mission m3as subwoofer and it sounds sublime from the pc,it would sound just as good from the radio.
