RELAY WON'T BUDGE

I had an intermittent keying issue on one of my sonars.
I was told to swap out the relay as I do have a replacement .
It's a four pole double throw but won't come out.
I wiggled and applied some pull but it won't move.
The advice was solid because the wiggling seemed to solve the intermittent keying issue.
I'd like to remove it and spray the legs with deoxit.
Anyone ever had a problem removing one of these?20160730_174916~2.jpg

Sonar: Judging from the material I see around the relay...I would guess someone has either used silicone or other adhesive to hold the relay in-place.
I would try a very thin blade knife(maybe razor) an run around the bottom of the plastic case and socket to free it up.
Then carefully try to pry up on the edges to free it...hopefully it will come loose.
Make sure the radio is unplugged...just in case there is some voltage on any of those contacts

I will give the razor blade a shot. After trying to remove the relay the intermittent keying problem stopped but has since returned. I'm fairly positive the contacts on the relay need to be cleaned. A shot of the deoxit might do it but if not I do have another working relay to replace it with. My first thought was that someone a previous owner of course must of crazy glued it as opposed to Silicon. It just won't budge but the razor blade is a good idea and I will get on that tomorrow afternoon. Thanks very much. 73

It might have a screw holding it from the bottom up through the socket or a stud and nut....

I haven't looked for a screw. Reason being is that not one of my several sonar's have a screw or retaining spring of any type. That includes the fs 23 and 3023 but it's possible a previous owner may have added one.
Maybe the relay had a loose fit.
Before I try Gary's razor blade idea I will remove the bottom cover and give a look see.
Good information. Thanks. 73

I might be wrong but If I'm correct the sonar fs 2340 doesn't have a nut that fastens the relay.
If so I'll find out when i remove the bottom cover.
I'm hoping it does.
It would make replacing the relay as easy as I thought it should've been to start with.
I will clean the contracts first and if the problem continues I'll replace it with a working one.
Ps This is a picture sent to me by Mike and according to him there is no fastener of any type on this radio's relay but I'm not the first owner of this rig and someone may have fastened it from the bottom for whatever reason. Thank you. TAKING A CLOSER LOOK AT THE PICTURE I JUST ADDED I CAN SEE THE SINGLE STUD ON THIS RELAY IS THREADED. I MAY HAVE MISUNDERSTOOD MIKE BECAUSE IT APPEARS IT DOES INDEED HAVE A NUT THAT THREADS FROM THE UNDERSIDE.

Thanks. I should've paid attention to your post and photo.
I can clearly see that there's a threaded bolt on the relay.
I'll take the bottom cover off tomorrow and hope that a shot of deoxit on the relays legs will solve my problem. Thanks much.

The relay came out.
It took quite a bit of wiggling.
The threaded bolt looking thingy is a grounding pin.
No nut should ever be on it.
I learn something new every day and that's what it's about
Thanks
