Revised Stryker Models coming out

what ever happened to the ssb model they kept promising a few years ago ? there was a lot of interest in them then folks just gave up or forgot about it . herd anything ?

what will the new changes be ?

Before they do anything else they need to fix the noisy ass receive in these radios. I have had 4 of em and every friggin one of them sounded trashy as hell!

Why have i had 4 of em? Got one new when they first came out ( sold it in less than a week ) and the others used but less than 5 months old. Of those 3 i never paid over $125.00 ( they were all less than 6 months old ) for em because the guys who had em said the receive was screwed up so they sold em for what ever they could get out of them!

If they are aligned properly no rx issues. SSB model would be nice but with market slow and not being able to get a board designed the way they want its being delayed but it is still on the road map.

They were but it made no difference, they always had about 1 to 2 s units of noise no matter if they were installed mobile or base. I remember there used to be a mod to fix this problem when they first came out because so many people were complaining about the receive.

If they dont get this problem fixed this time around they will still have problems selling them. Of the 3 CB shops that i know of. One wont carry them and the other 2 cant get rid of the ones they have. Don't get me wrong. I like those radios, they look good and sound really good. It's just that damn receive that kills em for me!

I sent on to owner but he is getting no complaints from dealers or distributors he deals with. not seen it personally either.

If you have say DTB radio or Doug at CBR do the alignment I'm sure it will be fine. What three shops do you use? Did they even bother to align the receive?

I figured they did away with the SSB idea or it wasmore than they could handle and they decided not to mess with those anymore

Yes he did. Any of the 4 strykers all went to the same guy after i got them for a complete check up. This person not only works on CB radios but ham radios as well and his job is to work on all types of communication equipment for the state and local government so i can assure you that he does know what he is doing and has the tools necessary to do the job correctly the first time! Understand that i do not deal with fools,if they dont do a radio correctly the first time then i dont give them a 2ND chance!

You guys seem to think that i'm out of my mind but i remember more than one person on this very forum with the same complaints. That's why someone here came up with a mod to fix this problem. Although the only fix i have heard that works is to reduce the receive (think that's what the mod did) sensitivity but then whats the point! You can align these radios until your eyes bleed, they will still have more noise in them than say an older Galaxy will. The reason i say older is that the new mosfet Galaxy radios seems to have just as much noise in them as the Stryker does, same with the Connex radios. Maybe it's the board they all use that causes them to have this same problem. Maybe it's that the newer radios are more prone to pick up electrical inference from outside sources more than older radios are. I dont have a clue.

I mean. You dont hear the ridiculous ammount of noise in the older export radios as you do with most of the new stuff that's on the market today!

i have the 490 myself and the reciever was very noisy i took it in and had it alligned at a very reputible shop. and it was much better. not perfect but better

10-4 there Kingmudduck. I would give Doug at CBR a holler. He does a receive mod that is of his own design and works great. He's a very sharp tech.
