BM, the VA1 is the one that is similar to the MFJ259, not the RF1. The RF1 is your basic remote SWR meter. Its use does not require a transmitter signal thus making it portable. This can be an advantage letting you get this SWR meter to the feed point, but that is about it. Among other things, the RF1 will not show you the resistance (Rs) and reactance (Xs) separately like the 259 or the VA1.
