Does anybody know how much this stuff goes for per foot ? Very impressive stuff !! contamanation proof outter sleave , double shielded ground (kopper /silver plated ) center is multi-stranded with a solid center going up the middle of that and it is also kopper/silver plated. 214

When I was in the Navy, there was a ship in the yards that was going through a refurbishment. I'd walk the dock at night looking for "end spools" of cable. Usually this was anything less than 100'. I'd ask the electrician shop (civilian contractor) if I could have any of the end spools. They said yeas and I'd coil the coax in the bottom of my duffle bag and take it home.

I got a BUNCH of this stuff.

The problem with 214 is that it is thicker than RG-8 (.425" rather than .405") and is almost impossible to get a PL-259 on. I'd usually just strip off the insulation and use a thick heat shrink tubing to seal the connector.

The other problem with 214, is that its electrical characteristics is no better than RG-8 at 66% velocity factor.

LMR-400 has two braids also. One is silver and the other is aluminum foil. The LMR-400 has better coverage than the 214.

Why spend money on 214 when you can have LMR-400 or equivalent?!

I had not seen this stufff before , I did manage to get 259s on it, though it wasn't easy ! and it was used stuff that I had to work with. 100 footers and 50 footers , by the time I was on my dozenith connector (259) and my hands were about ready to fall off , I got the right cut on the stuff to get the 259ers on somewhat easier. 2.00 a foot !! I could truly understand that , very nice , as far as volocity goes ? I honestly wouldn't know ? but I believe what your saying. My experiance with coax is this ,the better it is ,the harder it is to solder on 259s , if it is new to me like this 214 was , it can take me some time before I find the right cut for myself to apply to 259s . I've always found 9913 to be a pain the ass as well to solder. But I will agree with you on this MC , I do believe that antenna and feedline (no matter how hard it is to work with ) is the way to go for the best all around results. Damn it !! I got blister on my fingers !!

Thanks for the chart QRN.

RG-214 M17/75 Mil-DTL-17 Cable

I'm new to this forum and more familiar with fiber cable than copper cables. I've noticed comments about the cost of RG-214 M17/75 Mil Spec cable and it's high cost. I've recently seen 10,000 feet of Coleman #988421 for $0.50 to $0.95 per foot on a liquidation. Happy to pass the info on to anyone who is interested.

You must really want to sell this stuff. This is your third post and you've cross posted this exact message three times. Once was enough. :censored:
