Same antenna for 2m FM and SSB?

Yes. Mode shouldn't matter, just frequency. I can talk on 27.400 on am, FM, and SSB or any frequency that my antenna will allow me to safely tx on as far as swr is concerned. So If your antenna works on 2m, it works on 2m AM, FM, and SSB. modes. Not sure about CW or RTTY, but I am sure the same applies. Hope this helps and have a good one.

Your antenna may not be able to operate in both FM and SSB parts of the band. SSB is on the bottom of 2 meter, and FM is in the middle and top of the band. 2 meter is 4 MHz wide, making it quite difficult to cover it all with one antenna.

I'm really just asking as a matter of interest. I doubt there's much 2m SSB activity in my area. Just curious though, what range is 2m SSB at?

This is a good one to bookmark.

An antenna doesn't care what mode it's being used for. Just the frequency. Most if not all repeaters on 2M are only for FM, and there again, the antenna doesn't care. It will receive any mode strong enough for it to detect and pass the signal to the receiver or repeater.

Thank you, yes I have that. My question might have been worded poorly. Somebody said that most FM is at the upper range of the band and SSB was at the bottom. My question really should have been, what frequencies are the SSB operators at?

Thanks Captain. Maybe I should try that someday. I have a 2m linear that does SSB too, maybe it will come in handy.

I just realized something. You are in the Philippines aren't you? I don't think your 2m band is the same as in North America is it? Do you have access to the full 144-148 MHz band or is like the European 2m band from 144-146 MHz only? Either way the SSB portion is in the bottom of the band.

Gotta love Google. I just found the answer to my question above. The Philippine 2m band is only 2 MHz wide, from 144-146 MHz so you would have no problem with the antenna covering the full band.
