im thinkin about the values in service menu in every modern radio.
be my thought that the very first time you open the service menu write every value number and what it does cause you set n not be correct when you change that value, you might be [a redneck] screwed.
as usual any suggestion i make is ignored but i see it a coming .
how ya set my radio? i was just increasing the frequency. not every radio of same make and model use same value numbers.

You are correct, need to document every setting before changing anything.
I have been trying to get a service manual for the 6666/9900 board, I have asked in many places, e mailed many people.
Most just say there is not one, I know that's not true because when they are built some one at the factory has to do the initial alignment on the radio.
I have found one person ( who asked me not to share his name) that told me, yes there is a factory service manual, but you must sign a non disclosure agreement before they will release it.
They don't want the info public because of concerns over intellectual property.
This goes all the way back to the Uniden board that started it all the, 360 fm, the most cloned board in the history of cb radio.
If you go look at FCC applications for approval, they don't even disclose the schematics to the FCC in the applications any more because of privacy concerns.
I guess we can blame Jim Peng for this.

Just saw a post here within the last few days about the values in someone's radio. You are correct about documenting them, and are also correct that they aren't all the same.

It would be like adjusting all variable resistors (vr's) equally on all radios of the same type, so to say.

On these menu driven radios they should call the service menu adjustments virtual resistors instead!

I would think it's more important to know what the menu item is before changing the value. If you have no idea what the change is going to do.... don't do it.
some radios ive viewed on youtube, when you change 1 setting it changes another item and you have to change the second item back to its correct value

I haven't experienced that. Can't see why that would happen, though.

some things are tied in together.adjust 1 and as its interconnected you must go to the other 1 and return it to recorded value
