Should i use a homemade CMC on my New antenna setup 100 feet up a tree?

x2 what Marconi said. I've had quite a few antennas in trees. Your best bet is to go with an fiberglass imax/antron/gainmaster type antenna. These kind can be banged around a bit on the way up without much harm to tuning or performance. Anything aluminum with a flexible tuning mechanism, delicate ground radials, etc. will get bent / detuned on the way up. Then you've sunk a ton of money on the project and have an out of tune antenna at the top of a 100 ft. tree. Ask me how I know... Best tree setup I had for years was an original Imax 2000 (pre redesign/shortening) in the top of a 100+ ft. tall pine tree. It had the recommended # of wraps (choke) at the base of the antenna. Not sure if it helped anything or not. Didn't seem to hurt anything. Great setup worked excellent for 7+ years until the coax went south (Davis Bury-Flex)
