Ever try one, From what I see the are a communications for dispatching and pageing where a clear voice is needed, Also some what noise csancleing so you don't pick up other noise from other dispatchers or noise in the room. May be better for ham radio. Ever try one for CB/Export.

The Shure website lists is as being designed for public address and paging systems. Frequency response tailored fro voice communications so it would work for hf comms.. Why would it be better for ham radio? You could wire if (if it's the correct impedance) for any radio.

Over the years I've used cheap Telex mics designed the same as the 522 and the Turner CS-1 and they all worked well on various HF rigs.

I got rid of all of my Shure Mikes.
it was hard to differentiate between the letter S and the letter F. this is all I use nowadays.
