Hey guys
I thought I'd check out Sirio Antenna to see if any new products are out.
Well,it looks like Sirio has came out with the Performer 5000 3/8 Trucker antenna with a 8" SS riser with a 3/8-24 threaded base.
After seeing that,I wonder if that might raise the performance of this antenna on a roof type of mounting position by it's loading coil being raised up by a few inches.
What do you guys think?

as i have learned years ago a center/top loaded antenna is more effecient than a base loaded one,,, but my choice has always been a hardmounted 102 inch ss whip with a 6 inch spring,,,

I've read a couple of reviews on UK sites by a couple of people who get sent samples by manufacturers for review and they've both said they noticed no performance difference between the two. Certainly the lower mast is too short as a percentage of the antenna to offer the benefits of centre loading.

Its another good option for the trucker other than cheap fiberglass antennas or Wilson trucker antennas.

I’ve had a pair of the WILSON 2000 since 2013 or so. (2014?) Maybe 100k miles on them. No complaints. Getting the rest of the vehicle good enough to maximize their performance has been the story.

Took them out of the package and installer drilled two holes in bottom of each coil across from each other and closer to outer edge than inner. The coil cover is clear. No corrosion evident.

But I’d like to try the Performer. An excuse to buy the full set of SS lower shafts as well (have 5” & 10”; Walcott sells some X-long ones).

Wilson doesn’t support parts replacement any longer. Bells CB has a fair amount of part numbers still listed, but the clock is ticking. The 2000 & 5000 are still truck stop staples, but $85/ea adds up when a re-build and not replacement was needed.

If in the end I wind up with a chest of parts for this TYPE of antenna, I guess I can Frankenstein something to work.

I’m looking at the 3/8 version SIRIO as of this morning wondering if it will be a performance upgrade to the WILSON 2000’s I have been using.

I’ve a fair collection of 3/8” shafts and just need another pair (or two) of lengths to cover a fair range of applications.

With a “better” radio to be installed in the Pete, occurred to me that antennas might also be “upgraded” (hoped for) in the pursuit of SSB performance.

Looks to be 6.8’.

A SimonTheWizard post indicates a market introduction in 2014/15.

I have one on deck, waiting for my custom bracket to get back from powder coating. I went straight to the US distributor in Fremont Ca, only 15 minutes from my job. Warehouse full of stuff and seems to be a two man operation, warehouse guy was pretty cool. It's encouraging to read these good reports, mine will be mounted forward of my headache rack above the cab on my ram 2500. I have plenty of braided ground strap and will likely spend several hours getting it all bonded. I chose this one : Screenshot_20210206-072416_eBay.jpg
