The point trying to be made is that perhaps, just perhaps, most folks are also concerned about the physical appearance of a unit (any unit) because oft times it is indicative of how the unit was cared for.


For instance, here is a couple of pics of a mobile linear amplifier that is much, much more 'rare' and much, much older than the SkullCracka pictured.


And yet, it is in both pristine cosmetic and electrical condition:


This particular unit was manufactured in April of 1977.


I believe these pictures are indicative of the physical / cosmetic condition to which most folks would like to receive equipment.
