Yup, he filled his niche as a child star and couldn't cope losing that and not knowing how he was contracted he more than likely got took.
The sad part about the whole deal is that he DID get taken...by his parents of all people. They spent all the money he earned and wasted it. He never saw a penny of it and by the time he was an adult he was broke and out of work. I know he spent a few years working as a security guard before he started to get some work again as an actor. I'm not sure how he ended up financially, but his medical bills had to have added up. He had a lot of health issues, for sure.
When I was a kid I used to watch that show with my family. At the time, I thought it was the funniest thing on TV. All three of the kids on that show ended up in the dumps. Sad.
I guess all three of the Different Strokes child actors had complicated lives drugs ETC sad what happen to poor Gary though he had alot of health issues which is how his growth was stunted. These actors are dropping like flies are we just getting that old??
