[Solved] Cobra 148 GTL Malaysia clarifier unlock problem.

Hello all,
I will get to making another post about my quick trip to Nevada, but for this moment, I really need some help on a Cobra 148 GTL clarifier unlock. I did follow the steps on the post from our very own Nomad, but when I do that, the TX/RX is so far off about a couple channels it seemed. I put everything back, it works again and is on the channel you selected.

I did Desolder one of the legs of the diodes near the crystal as specified, but the radio is still way off.

Thanks for looking. Hoping to get the radio back on the air soon. This particular one my younger brother had for the last 10+ years.

I think I tracked it down. The 8v source I thought it was, was in fact not 8v but measured much less. Oops... Will report back in a few.

If visually tracing the 8V source remember that the writing on the MB3756 regulator is on the side facing the outside of the radio.

After some time, Nomad's guide is still the one to stick to. Removing a leg of R44 and jumpering R174 gives that radio wayyyyy too much slide. Sure you can get yourself in between, but at that point you barely look at your Clarifier, it will change on ya it seems lol. No thanks. I returned back R44 and centering up to that. This way I have a chance to tune in and not barely move the knob and be completely gone.

Just to conclude this thread,

I tapped into a line that didn't have 8v... That would of been helpful the first go around.
