Oh shoulder and ear didn't hurt. I just had a ringing in my left ear for several seconds after pulling the trigger. LOL Funny how it was only the left ear. I shoot right handed so maybe the right ear was sheltered a bit from the sound.

I read article years ago about Australia taking guns, not good. Seems it hasn't proved as working. Read people were able to still get them and are outlawing. Don't blame them.

Australia is about one of the only far off countries I'd like to see. Not Sydney, the woods or Outback. Hope your Gov't comes around and gets right. We are fighting constantly to keep and bear. If SHTF I'm sure leftists will use the controversy to capitalize on confiscation. But, SHTF will ultimately reinforce our 2nd amendment rights.

At least Capt has got such a cool toy. I'm envious. Hey, Capt......are y'all aloud rifles?

Our Gov. Will do everything in its power to remove guns from the good guys. Down here, to keep a handgun it's about 18 months of jumping through hoops, then you need to prove range attendance regularly. Can't use them outside a range. Problem is now Gov. has closed ranges, so you can't comply. Fear is they will use this to cancel licences, confiscate guns.
And yes there is a thriving black market. The bad guys have no trouble getting the cool stuff.

Sydney is just a city with a pretty harbour. Once out of town it is wildly varied , but I think you would find it familiar, I found the US easy because it was similar to here, people and culture wise.

Sure are. We have to pass an approved safety course to have ANY type of firearm but that is not a bad idea. Two classes, well three really. Non-restricted is simply long guns, rifles and shotguns. Basic storage and transport regulations apply. Must be locked or in a locked cabinet. Not transported loaded. Next is the restricted class which I just upgraded too a few months ago. That adds the ability to possess and acquire hand guns and certain types of centre fire rifles such as those based on the AR platform. Currently those must be transported locked and inside a locked container. Two levels of locks. Unfortunately they can only be used on a range, Third class is prohibited and that allows you to possess and acquire guns on the prohibited list but usually ONLY for collectors or if an heirloom has been passed down. Funny thing is that with the current situation going on in the world all the whiny lefties are finding out just how hard it REALLY is to acquire guns up here. Well no, it's NOT hard but you need the course and permit first then it is a piece of cake. Many of them decided that after all their bitching about wanting more gun control they now feel the need to get one for themselves. There was a news story where many of them thought they could simply order a gun online and have it sent to their house. That was one of the things they bitched about and said it MUST stop. Now they go out and try and order a gun online and when it asks them to supply their Firearms Possessions and Acquisition Permit number they are screwed. LOL All the things they bitched about that they said make it too easy to acquire guns turned out to be false. You need to show a valid permit to buy ammunition. No big deal. Just flash the card and it's done. I bought the shotgun above online and just had to quote my permit number and done. I bought a Ruger 22LR at Cabelas and showed my card. DONE. My next purchase will be a couple handguns I think. Something in 9mm and 22LR for fun at the range. Going to hold off on that for a bit until things settle down a bit. No idea what will happen financially here. My wife will continue to work. She is a nurse so no fear of her being laid off. My work has been declared as an essential part of the supply chain so I will be working. All elective surgeries have been cancelled for now so there goes my knee replacement however the knee is giving me a lot of grief while at work and the dr. wants me off so that might happen before too much longer. I just feel more comfortable with a few $$$$ in the bank right now rather than something I can't get out to use anyway.

Times like this, when firearms are needed for protection, seems those who railed for disarming are now finding out the hard way what they thought was a great idea is actually fubar. Sorry y'all have to do all that for a firearm, legally. Careful, and please remember the history lesson taught to the people of Germany. Hitler had them register their arms, then he took them.

A good nine would be wise choice. Common caliber. My edc is a LC9, compact and reliable, thought long trigger pull. A wheel gun in .357 is very reliable. Common rounds, .357/38. A 38+P+ has same velocity as a .357. Could step up to a 40 or 45.

Glad y'all both have jobs. Bottom fell out on mine. Concentration is now on doing things around here to stay busy. Garden, defenses (zombie barricades) LOL, chickens, and may get the N2 out if I get L2 up on this halfway built breakover. Had to sidetrack due to Chinese Virus, and prepare. Garden #1 priority.

Tried to give away some sprouted squash to neighbor. People are lazy. Guess she figured if this gets bad she can bum some off me. Same with eggs. Hence, defenses.
Long run, could barter goods for service, she's a vet tech.

Hope you got plenty 12 gauge rounds. Defense rounds for me are 2-3/4" or 3" mag #4, pellets are 21 cal, and more of them than 00. Cop taught me that. Drop that cyl bore choke tube in for best. That's what my 870 has.

No big deal really to get the firearms. Actually I believe it is a good thing to have to have a good knowledge of how to properly handle firearms before you are allowed to acquire them. The course is only a full day including classroom time and practical as well as the actual exam. The asshole PM we have right now wanted to ban ALL handguns and semiauto rifles but the backlash was incredible. The online petition alone had over ten times the signatures of ANY such petition to the government in history. His leftie followers are even finding out that they were wrong about "just anyone" being able to purchase guns online and lots have decided that now is the time to buy a gun "just in case". Staff at Cabela's here said they have NEVER seen so many guns of ALL types as well as ammo go out of the store as they had in the last couple weeks. He won't get in next election and even if he still goes ahead and enacts banning legislation without parliamentary approval (similar to a POTUS executive order) the conservatives have said they would immediately rescind it.

No man on earth needs the approval
of any other to defend himself or
any others he deems worthy
of his protection.

He is not ever required to respect tyranny
wheresoever it may appear.

There are no boundaries applicable.
Any where, and at any time.

(It’s past time to forcibly deport those groups unable to abide by civilized Christian behaviors. The whole of the West needs to regain its grip).
