North coast of the USA.... Da UP!
Sometimes you win at Dayton!

Found a President HR2600 in the flea market for 35 dollars and talked him into 30! No mic or power cord and he said it worked last time he "used" it.... Yeah, right....
Took the covers off and looked good, got it home and no receive and lousy transmit....

Scrutinizing the board with a magnifier I spotted something strange on the SWR board. Removing it, the main RF trace was blown in two places and I could see that somebody replaced the polarity diode.
Replacing the SWR board with one from a junk 2510 it came back to life and I worked several HAMs in Oklahoma and Kentucky and they gave me a good report!
Now the question is.... What happened to cause this and why wasn't the final blown????

73 mechanic P.S. Looking for a Chipswitch!

I bought a 2600 at a hamfest for something like $35 or maybe it was $25 (can't remember). The widow "promised" me that it worked and at the time all I had available to test it was a car battery to see it power up and make noise from the speaker. Turns out after I got it home it has a Chipswitch in it (the work performed very neatly too). Radio seems to work well on all functions and has no other mods to it. A nice radio, but not like my Ranger AR3500!
