What kind of output could I expect to see on a Stryker
radio with the PPE mod done to it?
Say on a Bird 43 and 50w element?
I know a few of you have these.

I have a Delta Force with the PPE mod and it's a talker, I ran it side by side against a Justin tuned Magnum S3 and all the local base stations on the air picked the Delta Force hands down as the winner. (Don't panic people, there are plenty of good techs out there.)
W1R3T4P, as much as I like the PPE mod I kinda doubt it would be necessary on a Stryker radio. They seem to rock-n-roll with a good tune and alignment.
As far as the 70 watts goes, I don't know could be. The S3 I was referring to was supposed to do 51 Bird 43P watts. On a bench into a Bird 43P @ 14.2 volts all we got was 38 watts. In order to talk clear though we had to back the mic gain down a tad and this knocked the power down to about 32 watts.

I was more interested in average power like on a bird 43.
I'am also not surprised that the PPE modded radio you
have spanked that Justin tuned Magnum S3.

my 2 strykers do 20rms from a 2 w dk. turn up the dk to 5 w and i get oh about 26 rms my friend has his max dk at 15 and it does into the 30's rms And yes it is still perfectly clear and loud, mic at 3 oclock with his voice and mic choice

Dont know if this will help but.........

Of the 4 Strykers and have seen on my meter at 14.1 volts they all do in the range of 50 to 55 watts unclipped after a good tune. With the modulation limiter clipped its more like 60 to 65 watts. If they let me do it my way then i put the limiter back in and set it at a 10 watt key swinging to 50 or so watts and let it go at that. Even with what some say is a high key they are still very loud and much cleaner then if you try and run a 1 or 2 watt dead key.

One word of advise. After hearing these radios clipped its not worth the extra 10 to 15 watts you see because they are way way over modulated unless you turn the mike gain back (way back) and if you have to do that then what was the point of removing the limiter! 10 watt key, mike gain wide open and you will have that "big radio" sound !
