This guy claims to be one of the founders of Palomar electronics and told me that stainless steel antenna whips generate more static electricity than Firestik antennas which causes mosfet finals to self destruct. He also says it is necessary to use 7 feet of coaxial cable to get a good match with the Firestik antenna. Every radio I heard tuned by this guy sounded stock but faded out quickly.
