Swan 1200x tubes

I have received a Swan 1200x that has never been used,the 8950s were removed and sold,the amp is brand new and unused,I was told there is a tube conversion for this and the dentron amps that replace the 8950s,anyone have the info on the swap.

If you have access to 6LF6's, 6LR6's or 6KD6's all you have to do is change the filament voltage and the tubes will drop right in.

It is possible to change the tubes to 6LQ6 / 6JE6's but that would also involve changing the tube sockets.

Svetlana sponsored that swap, when they where in the tube business.

Since then, they pretty much stopped importing to the US.

It was another 6 series tube.

That amp is pretty much a dead issue. As paws said, you can convert to 6 volt fils (which they did in another model of that amp).

HOnestly, 600 watts PEP output for 400 dollars worth of tubes. You can get 500 watts PEP from a Pride DX300, and LC has one for sale for 500 dollars.

The tube in the DX300 will last about 25,000 hours.

Thanks Toll-free and Paws,good info on the amp I had the amp given to me so I have nothing in it,I guess the tubes were worth more than the amp to the owner,I have an al80b that I use now so I'm not in need of an amp,just curios about getting the swan going,thanks again guys.
