Hi guys, tried google. Does anyone know if there's a typical Swing Kit mod for the 99V2? ….. the simple one where you pull a resistor leg up and add a diode to it ?

Thanks !!!

I think the 99v2 is close to the original 99V, this swing mod works well, but you have to adjust the AMC to a sweet spot for it to work correctly without clipping the negative peaks. This is an actual NPC mod.

Attach a 100 ohm resistor and a 1N914/1N4148 switching diode as shown across C189. C189 is located just left of TR50 on the main PCB. The pic below will provide you reference.

Let us know how you get on if the PCB is about the same as the original 99V.

Hey Exit13 …. no actually the 99V2 is VERY different from the original. The V2 uses the same board as found in the 98VHP

Lift up one side of R264, the side that is towards the right. (Away from VR14) Insert a 1N914/1N4148 diode in between the resistor and the hole. Banded side of the diode goes into the hole you unsoldered the resistor from, non-banded side solders to the resistor. If this mod doesn't work, then reverse the polarity of the diode.

The other method that may work is to solder the 100 ohm resistor/diode combo from the first pic across C233, same direction as the above pic. This mod is not verified tho, so do so at your own risk.

Hope this helps. :)

So I have a cobra 138xlr and the meter dose not work... It dose not key up and signal dose not work.... It is not stuck it the meter moves freely. now wires are resoldered on both ends...So now that do I look at. Could it be a diode or a transistor?
