Swing - revisited

Ah - the hot topic of "swing" in the modulation and the myths involved:ohmy:

Honest question though. My 1993 142GTL base deadkeys 2 watts and modulates to 5 with it's shoes off. I turned the power pot down years ago. The mod is strong - mostly because I run a Sadelta Echo Master Plus on it - a very powerful mic.

I picked up a Cobra 29LTD at flea market, and it honestly deadkeys 6 watts and swings to 10. It pushes the pee outta my Palomar Elite also, but the swing with it's shoes ON is backwards. 300 watts on meter and when I whistle, it swings down to 275.

Can somone explain? Im also using the Sadelta with the 29.

im no tech ,but from what you posted it sounds like
you got too much carrier [dk] coming from the 29.
id use no more than 2 watts.i had a variable dk installed
on mine on the delta tune it maxed out at 3 watts and down to less than 1
watt.
