Hey guys, i'm looking for a swr meter any in mind? whats a good price, brand, ect. i don't if the radio shack is any good.is it? thanks.

The typical Radio Shack SWR/watt meter is about 'average', does as well as most. It's not 'laboratory' grade, but who needs that anyway?

In general RS meters are fine, they will keep you from smoking your radio. If you are looking very accurate readings then look elsewhere.

Theres nothing wrong with the Radio Shack meters as a matter of fact I own several of the 2000 watt units and 2 of the digital units. The Radio Shack meetrs of this particular type run the same type of circuitry layout in the as the Yaesu meters run ;) very accurate for average readings and with a little trick mod will show you some pretty close to accurate readings for forward peak readiings.

Withat said remember there is NOT a powered peakreding circuit so its not spot on but is pretty damn close. As Ive done all of my Radio Shack meters with this mod and ran out of the part needed which are extremely hard to find I had actually had to give or mail a few off for forum members a few years back. Im down to one and wish Ide had ordered way more when I did find them back in the mid 1990's :(
