I'm getting ready to put up a new Maco 5/8 wave GP and it's been a while but.....If I swr tune this antenna with it temporarily mounted on a 4 foot tripod away from EVERYTHING using the same coax I will be using when mounted on my roof will I at least be close to tuned once in the air? I don't want to drop and re mount this over and over and to tune it once mounted isn't going to be easy. Any thoughts are appreciated.

That is how I tuned mine, although mine was on a 10 foot mast, but as far away from everything as I could get it.

I seem to remember a post floating around here that either had good directions or a link to good directions. Better tuning directions than the manual.

I did mine sort of the same, 10ft pipe and away from everything. Used a small ladder to get to the rings. Worked out good. Just put the pipe down far enough to hold the antenna and pipe in place and tie it off if needed. Use some small string. Should work fine.
