TALK ABOUT A TIME CAPSULE

I owned a 301, decent receiver but prone to problems. The main issue are the way the boards mount, PC style and the connectors can become dirty and cause failures. Personally I would stay clear unless you can get it much cheaper.

Agreed. No matter if it is NIB it is still old tech. Now having said that some old tech is great but this one not so much.

That's to bad. The YouTube clips I watched had me believing it was a good piece of equipment. I wasn't interested myself but thought someone who owned one in the past might be looking to capture a bit of nostalgic memories. I read some reviews on eham and I gathered from those reviews that the issues this transceiver is known to have are rectifiable. And parts are available. I'm definitely not interest myself. If I ever decide to purchase a vintage transceiver I'd most likely go with the 101 series. The only thing that holds me back is the idea of the drifting issues that those old transceivers have. Who wants to spend an hour getting it back on frequency every 5 minutes until it's stable? I barely spend that much time on air at any one given time. 73

wow that person had some great stuff!

be sure to check out the seller's other items.
My favorite is the SBE SB-36 with the nixie tubes. would love to have that one, and hey, my birthday is coming up! LOL

Looks like this is someone helping a neighbor sell off the radio estate of a recent silent key.

This is exactly what i am doing at this time, and is what prompted me to start a thread on the subject.

The only thing that's going to keep the hobby going is for all the old school equipment to make it into the hands of someone with that first timer's excitement instead of ending up in a basement or worse!
