Tech to General class

I have had my tech license for a number of years. But never gotten on the air. I have listened a few times with my scanner.
Right now I'm in the process of getting my CB back up and working in my truck.
Then I would like to set up a base station for CB and ham.

I'm thinking about studying for the general class so I could open up some more options.

I have a Gordon west general class book and was wondering if I could use this one to study from. It says in the book that the question pool was valid until June 2004.
Has the question pool changed that much sense 2004?

And it's always a good idea to check to see if you have a -current- edition of any of the license manuals/study-guides. The general class question pool changes this year, doesn't it? They all change periodically (2 - 4 years??).
Do it! It'll open up gobs of more bands and possibilities.

When the question pool changes, it typically only involves a few questions. Go ahead and use it. The odds that any changed question/s being on your individual test in sufficient number/s to make you fail are slim to none.

Go online and take the practice exams. Once you repeatedly pass with a score of 95 or better, you'll be good to go.

there is a study test that you can work off of at qrz.com... and I also used the current MFJ study guild...between those two I made general class no problem at all

and good luck when time comes to take test

Please, don't just take tests and memorize questions/answers, at least take a bit of time to actually learn what the questions are asking about. By that I mean that using the questions as a guide on areas to do further reading/study on is the better option. Do read through Part 97 at least once. Rote memorization is not required but familiarity will be worth your while.
