Hi I just recently got a used Texas Ranger TR966 936 and my buddies on the cb are telling me I am splatering them. I also run a cobra 148 and it is not causing the problem. I was wondering if maybe the limiter had been removed? I am not sure where to look in the radio to find where it should be, Is it a resistor, diode or transistor? and what would the replacement be what number/value so I can put it back in? Other than that problem the radio seems to be nice.

I guess the 966 is same radio as 936 . Anyone able to answer my question about the limiter problem?

Drifter,

Not sure what your deal is. But the man offered some info. TR32 and TR53 is most common ones that are hacked.

The quick way to have it checked is have a good shop bench test it, a scope will tell you all you need to know.

Go to cbtricks.com, click on radio information and then go to the RCI section. You can download the complete service manual for your radio part numbers and all.
