england
conditions into europe are REALLY wide open this morning,
i heared germany briefly on our ch19 legal fm so i went to check 555 usb and worked many stations in germany poland france netherlands and scandinavia, right now its swinging around to spain,
its a mess out there but its great to hear these stations walking all over my locals,
i never thought i would actually enjoy working europe ever again,
i normally consider europe as similar to ignition noise ( just a pita ) but with the dx drought we have been having here i am delighted to hear them again,
the way we are passing pleasantries i guess they are pleased to hear us too,
nothings changed much, ALDO'S turkeys are out in force, half the italians are still using class C scratchboxes lol,
but there are some sweet sounding stations out there today,

now how long is it going to before i am skipping the big pond into stateside

The auroral should be fairly active for you guys over there tonight. It was "intense" here two days ago and we should experenice some auroral activity in the northern regions maybe today or tonight again.

hmmm ireland isnt to far from the uk mainland and i havent heard anything like bob has in the uk on 555 usb or 475 lsb operators in ireland are suffering from dx withdrall im sure everyone has heard of the phrase cold turkey i sure hope we start getting some conditions real soon even if within europe but stateside would be a bonus even the big opperators over here in ireland with the kenwood ts 2000 radios and yagi beams are suffering has any one got any ideas

its been the same here skip searcher,
nothing but a little bit of europe for a long time,
things did pick up here the other day, it was very busy on 555 and a bit of germany on 19 legal fm, europe was mainly working northen england and scotland,
unfortunately its back to how it was again but that was the biggest lift we have had round here for months

hey skip searcher turn ya radio on,

europe is rolling over my locals again,
italy hungary austria france norway croatia spain and others,
one of my locals is calling as ALPHA TANGO 922 west virginia and they are buying it  ,
hes got them jumping up and down trying to get back to him, charlie oscar is calling as 922 and 129 west virginia working the same stations,
ghost talking into scotland works a treat if you want to wakeup the band,
its amazing how easy it is to fool people into working dx that is not there,
at least they made some europeans happy on boxing day

TIP OF THE WEEK

if you are interested in usa dx on 10/11mtrs then always leave one radio and omni antenna tuned to 27.025,
like it or not thats where the first signs of a lift will appear and almost always way before anywhere else on the band,
there are hundreds of 10kw++ stations all over the usa on that one frequency,
you can hear the bowl in europe even when the rest of the band seems flat,

if you do hear USA calling on 10/11mtrs go straight to THE beacon 27.025mhz,
IF YOU DONT HEAR THE SUPERBOWL YOUR CHANCES OF WORKING A GENUINE USA STATION ARE VERY SLIM TO NONE :!:

May sound like a dumb question but i was wondering if you hear a lot of the states over there on the other side of the pond? In the past 10 years i have only heard one station and that was someone who was in England. Here in North Carolina i hear Alaska, Canada, South America, Mexico and Hawaii (just to name a few)from time to time but never any stations from across the pond. Would be nice though.

King Mudduck,
In the years 2000 - 2003, the dx from Europe was very strong, plus Africa and all of the Pacific.

It was quite easy to talk to a lot of these places just from the mobile from out hear on the west coast.

26.285 usb is call freq for Europe and beyond.
27.555 usb is the other call freq.

Just hold on a couple more years and you will be hearing guys & gals from across the pond like they were locals.

This past summer, there were guys from Florida and Louisiana that were making it into Europe in the afternoons.

Also Mr. King Mudduck, there is a site that in case you are not aware of it, will be a good aid for you in seeing what's happening for the dx on 11 meters.

Go here and read up on everything and get logged in, this will really help you in the coming years.
11 meter dx site

dxman is right we do get good dx into the usa,
talking stateside is easy when conditions are good,
a couple of years back i worked the states regular from the mobile and got called on the bowl several times from the base on stock radio power, nc area is where rangerman68 is at and i have worked him several times,
with the right conditions i could talk over a guy 3 miles down the road from you with ease, if you have never experienced it your in for a surprise with this next peak :D

the italians really do run some serious power i speak top many stations in italy when im over there in my big truck ive even met a couple of operators for a beer even the truck drivers all run big power on am but as for skip we would love to hear some usa on 11 metres as its been very quite so far this year yes we have had some openings into europe especially scandinavia late at night 2 metres is busy every day with uk and scotland but im hoping later on this year we wil start getting some 2 / 9 division on 11 metres
