These guys are nuts

You can't help but wonder what their carbon footprint is and how much fuel they are wasting.

We used to go the the IHBA Top Fuel Hydro races out here every summer and they are incredible, but these guys are just nuts.
They run over something submerged and it's over.

I've been to a handfull myself, saw people die at Turlock Lake and out at the Oakland Estuary as a kid. I help a friend of mine with his nostalgia front motor TF dragster, he drove TF flatbottom before they changed the name of the class and was one of the first guys to wear the old backpack parachutes that would literally pick the driver right up out of the boat.

That video looks pretty nuts.......

GForce, Problem Child, and many others out at Brenda Lake.
I remember when they first came out with Safety Capsules.
This was back when Eddie- the thrill- Hill was running Top Fuel Flat bottom boats.
He was incredible!
He would come out, race boats, then a couple weeks later he would show up at The Sand Piper Drags in the Fresno River with his Top Fuel Dragster sporting Dual Paddle Tracks.
Ain't nothing like a dragster throwing Roster Tails 100 feet in the air as it blasts down track.
Ya, used to be a lot of motor sports down in the Valley, not so much any more.

We used to go here every year...what a rip...we had spot on water near turn 1, anchor to a sand bar...LOUD and crazy days...always enjoyed Ms. BUDWISER/Ms. HURST:love::cool: and the never ending "parade" of ladies!

Been to Berenda a fee times. Eddie runs a nostalgia funny car now, we pit next him in Bakersfield with my friends funny car a few times. Real nice guy. His driver in the FC is a sand drag guy.

Edit - Jeff I misread this initially and thought that you were referring to Eddie Knox, my apologies ! Both Eddies have raced on the water, sand and asphalt, though Eddie & Ercie Hill were much more successful.

He had an accident on the water and his eyes were completely blood red for 4 months. There was a point to which he thought they would never be white again.

Those guys back then had great big cojones to run speeds like that in a open cockpit.
It was a lifesaver when they started putting capsules on them.

You got to crank up the sound for this video, about ten years ago, Problem Child........
