Parcel Post, the cheapest shipping at the P O, is running slow right now. Just this week I had 1 package coming to me and 1 that I sent both take 15 days to make it to their destinations.
The PO is undergoing heavy reorganization right now. Small offices are having their delivery operations merged into nearby larger offices and some branch stations are being closed altogether. They've been shedding employees and more cuts to come.
Much of this is in the news but my wife works there so I'm getting first hand information on many of the changes.
My advice is to get INSURANCE if your parcel is worth $40 or more. Minimum insurance is $50 so a $40 item plus mailing fee, Delivery Confirmation and insurance will easily hit $50. This way if the PO loses your package you'll get your money back and that includes the mailing fees and all costs. You get it ALL back.
I would further get the insurance on a $40 + item no matter how you send it, even Priority Mail. The insurance is cheap and you won't lose any money that way. You can always tell / require your buyer's that you are going to get insurance.
