Was looking to get a Omegaforce S45HP. The U.S.A. should see a shipment in November. I have yet to hear a radio with the Top gun in them. What are your thoughts of them on AM and SSB.:thumbup1::thumbdown::confused:

They are both excellent SSB radios, stay on frequency cold to hot, loud clear audio and an easy to read display. The Omega just has more toys to use on AM and I don't talk on AM at all.

I was wondering about the topgun products, More than likely I will buy the Omegaforce, Do they get used SSB or am olny. when you are talking close should they both be off etc.

I found their web site (top gun)

Buy I was also reading at another forum people saying it sounds like crap and they don't use them or if the radio is stock or a light tune they sound good.My guess is don't cut the mod. limiter and dont run the mod wide open and hit the top gun switch. Wish someone close by had one.

If it sounds crappy; then they probably just had the mic gain too high. You have to strike a balance. Takes some time to dial in in right. It is hard to hear your transmitted sound; the talkback doesn't take into consideration just what another station will hear when you broadcast.

The modulator and compressor can both be turned off too.
These TopGun devices are also sold separately and can also be installed in many different models of radios.

I have the 257hp and get great reports from it. I converted for channels myself and turned up the pot in the mic a little bit. I have heard my 257 transmit from about 5 miles away on my 148gtl and I'm impressed for a radio that has never seen a radio shop, At close distances my 148 is louder but the 257 can hold it's own and the 257 talks further.

TGT compressor

I'm thinking about getting the TGT compressor for my Galaxy DX-959. Also,I'm thinking about either getting the RF Limited CR577 or the Astatic Road Devil mic and the 636L and doing a little transplant surgery. Comments please. Thanks!

Why don't you look around for a Turner +3 or Raod King mic rather than install it in the radio. I use an Expander 400 had mic and get great reports also with the Raod King 60 or 66, all have the same compression designed in them. The Road King mics are black so they don't look funny the the astatic road devil.

I use this in my concrete truck. I'm feeling a little creative. Like Johnny Cash's Cadillac
