I just purchased a trc 448. The radio looks to be in new condition and still in the box.The radio recieves very well but has no transmit. Does anyone know anything about these radios and is it worth fixing. Also if anyone knows of a repair shop that I can send it to by mail for repair. Only paid $15.00 at a garage sale for it. Thx

Take the mic plug apart and make sure all the wires are on the pins as 714 said.(or maybe you have another mic like it you can try ?) It's a good decent old tank you got there . Did you try TX'ing on both AM/SSB ? Where are you located ?
I only have the 1 mic it came with, Ill get another one. Im on long Island, NY. The pic of the rig is the same as mine except for the blue lights. But it is brand new in the box....
No , not mine , but i sold one just like it on the Forum a year or so ago for 60 or so dollars shipped. Something like that , I've sold so much , I can't remember to whom anymore , usually going through my paypal account tends to help but even then it can be trying. REC86345 PLL

That is a good radio, I had one used it for years on Cb, added some toggle switches to the bottom of the radio, and it served me very well on the 10 meter band untill someone broke the window out of my car one night and lifted it.

I lost a decked out Grant XL the same way , chrome covers / it had a 99 kit in it that showed all the numbers on the regular channel read out on the radio with a 575M6 that was on it . (at least they didn't break my Chevy S-10s window to get it ) It's was 1995 , and why they left the Texas Star 350 on the floor, still has me scrathing my fore head ? BASTARDOS !! :glare: could have been worse.
At that time I had a Magnum 600 bolted to the floor, under the Passenger seat, they pulled the cable out of the coax connecter that was attached to the amp, but the amp stayed put. I had to wait over a hour for the cop to get there to do the report so my insurance would cover the window replacment and cost of the radio.......Allstate bought me part of a brand spankie new HR 2510 from AES to replace that radio.
I still missed it tho.
