Thanks, I get now that it's a big lump and not a coil. If the wire was insulated it would be an inductive coil. That's definitely not the location you'd want either on a resonant antenna.

It would be interesting to model the antenna on the higher HF bands to see the effects of the capacitive lump but that's way above my pay grade on EZNEC.
